FAQ: Cataracts

Dr. Dawn Trybulski · October 1, 2020

An overview of the most frequently asked questions about cataracts, treatment, and congenital cataracts.

What are cataracts?

Cataracts are a clouding of the eye's natural lens. They develop slowly and most often relate to normal aging, though injury, medication, and some medical conditions can accelerate them.

What are the symptoms?

Blurry or hazy vision, glare and halos around lights at night, faded colors, and needing more light to read.

How are they treated?

Early on, an updated prescription may be enough. When cataracts begin to limit daily life, outpatient surgery replaces the clouded lens with a clear implant. We co-manage the process from consultation through post-operative care.
